Aditya R Kanthy
A Letter to Aditya & Vineet on DDB Mudra's 37th Birthday.

(Effective 1st April 2017, Aditya Kanthy will be appointed DDB Mudra Group Managing Director and Vineet Gupta DDB Mudra Group CEO)

Dear Aditya & Vineet,

This note is on behalf of thousands of us who, inspite of having left Mudra are proud Mudraites, who believe that each has helped shape, nourish and build Mudra’s culture. For many of us, Mudra was where we had the best time in our professional lives.

Aditya and Vineet, congratulations on being the chosen ones. The two of you are the best equipped to take us ahead. For the next five minutes or so think of us as your elders who unconditionally wish you well.

Vineet many of us have not interacted with you. We have heard stories of your astonishing entrepreneurial skills and your ability to build business.  And given that you are now responsible for what we cherish and have helped built, we will attempt and get to know you better.

Aditya many of us have worked with you/ heard stories about your fairness, your ability to fight for your people, fight for what you believe is right, your razor sharp mind, your oratory skill and of course your love for a well done omelette.

It would be wonderful if we got an opportunity to regale you with tales that we grew up on - organizational mythologies over decades that helped build culture and a sense of belonging.

Elders are prone to sermonizing and often repeating themselves with the obvious. Do indulge us for a bit longer.

Mudra was always family where we grew up believing (perhaps in our naivety) that everyone was in it together. And as was often said and felt - if you fall, there will be a hundred outstretched hands to lift you. There was sibling rivalry and family politics.. but everything was dealt with firmness and fairness. Fairness and humanness was expected to govern every action. This was a family of which AGK was the head. His shadow over the organization was long and he could reprimand or cajole people as the head of a family would.

Collectively Mudra had in place a moral compass that often behaved itself. In a way we were brainwashed to being instinctively kind to our kin, override selfish impulses and respond with outrage to unfairness. Does sound old fashioned and naive, but many of us believed in this.
Mudra allowed us the freedom to fly and the freedom to fail. As long as one was invested in work, it didn’t matter whether one flew or failed.
Because Mudra was, after all, family.

Aditya and Vineet, you'll are Rainmakers the bearers of the Mudra flag.
Be Loved, Respected and Feared.
From deep within, we wish you'll the best.

Happy Mudra Day to all of us.

Salaam.
